Mysore Programme at Ashtanga Yoga Ramsgate

These early morning yoga sessions at Ashtanga Yoga Ramsgate will be taught using the traditional method of Mysore Style Ashtanga Yoga. Mysore Style is like a private one to one yoga lesson within a class environment and allows for the student to move at their own pace through the Ashtanga Yoga sequence, with the teacher on hand to guide advise and adjust.  Over time the student is able to commit the sequence to memory posture by posture developing a deeper more profound connection with the practice. Each yoga student is completely unique and postures are adapted to their individual needs .

The beauty of the Mysore room enables students of all levels to move and breathe together in a practice tailored to suit their own individuality and potential. It is the perfect environment for a complete beginner.

All levels welcome including complete beginners.

Ashtanga Yoga –history & lineage

Ashtanga Yoga was created by Krishnamacharya in Mysore South India in the early 1900’s. Krishnamacharya (who was also the Guru of BKS Iyengar who went on to create his own form of yoga ) passed the Ashtanga method on to his student Pattabhi Jois. Ashtanga Yoga came to the West in the 70s and became the footprint of most if not all forms of Vinyasa Yoga today. On Pattabhi Jois’s passing in 2011 the Ashtanga Yoga lineage was passed to his grandson Sharath Jois who continues to teach Ashtanga Yoga in Mysore and all over the world.

Matt Ryan has a level 2 authorisation from Pattabhi & Sharath Jois to teach and pass on the Ashtanga Yoga method. He has taught and practiced Ashtanga Yoga all over the world including Europe India and North America.
